2022 Yard Waste Season

The Public Works Department will begin accepting "New" and "Renewal" Subscriptions for the 2022 Yard Waste Season on January 1, 2022! The subscription fee is $90.00 for the season. Unfortunately, this fee is not pro-rated. The 2022 season will begin Monday, April 4, 2022 and will run through Friday, December 2, 2022 (weather-permitting).

To renew your barrel, or apply for new service, you must fill out our required digital subscription form. The form can be used for NEW and RENEWING subscribers. Your subscription must be renewed each season to continue receiving service. Please call our office at 860-584-6125 for any assistance filling out the form, or if you would like us to fill out the form for you over the phone. Your service will be activated once both the subscription form and your payment are received and your 2022 sticker is applied to the barrel.

New customers: You qualify as a NEW customer if you do not currently have a yard waste barrel at your property. If you are paying before the season begins, your barrel will be delivered in early March. The current-year sticker will be applied to your barrel at the time of delivery. Renewals: You qualify as a RENEWING customer if there is already a yard waste barrel at your property (even if from a previous owner). As a cost saving initiative, we no longer mail renewal notices. If you choose not renew your service, please contact our office so we can retrieve your yard waste barrel. Barrels that do not have a current-year sticker will not be emptied.

In an effort to keep staff and residents safe, we continue to offer contactless payment methods. The online subscription form must accompany all forms of payment. You may pay online (once the form is submitted, it will automatically re-direct you to People’s United Bank website to pay). Convenience fees for ONLINE PAYMENTS ONLY have been waived due to COVID. You can also pay by mail - envelopes must be addressed to: Public Works 111 North Main Street Bristol, CT 06010 and checks written to The City of Bristol

If you pay in person (111 North Main Street, Ground Floor), please comply with face mask guidelines posted on the entry doors of City Hall. Please be aware there may be long wait times, due to the high volume of customers. There is a convenience fee (typically 2.95% of the total transaction fee) for all IN-OFFICE credit/debit card paymentsThe online form must be filled out before you come into the office to pay.

If you have a yard waste barrel you are no longer using, please contact our office by phone (860-584-6125) or email ( to have it retrieved.
