An Important Message from Mayor Caggiano and the Bristol Police Department

On Sunday, July 16, 2023, at 4:30 p.m., Bristol police responded to a call from a concerned citizen who reported seeing several cardboard signs affixed to telephone poles along the 597 block of Farmington Avenue. The signs advertised a web address to what could be described as a white-nationalist group. We are choosing not to name the site to avoid giving the group any notoriety or support. Police discovered a total of five cardboard signs in the area. The signs were removed and police are continuing to investigate. If anyone witnessed persons affixing cardboard signs in the area and believes it may be related to this matter, or have any information that may be helpful to this investigation please contact Officer Savage at 860-584-3000 or email an anonymous tip at: BPDCrimeWatch@bristolct.gov

Statement from the Bristol Police Department: “The Bristol Police Department stands with all members of our community and condemns groups of hate in the strongest possible way,”

Statement from Mayor Caggiano: “Although I can’t comment on the ongoing investigation, I want to echo my displeasure on any outside group trying to divide our Bristol Community. Hate speech has no place in Bristol and I ask everyone in our community to join me in calling out hate speech in any form. Bristol stands together united as one community.”
