The Public Works Department is now accepting "New" and "Renewal" Applications for the 2021 Yard Waste Season! The fee is $90.00 for the season. The 2021 season will begin Monday, April 5, 2021 and will run through Friday, December 3, 2021 (weather-permitting).
To renew your barrel, or apply for new service, you must fill out our digital application here. Please call our office at 860-584-6125 for any assistance filling out the form, or if you would like us to fill out the application for you. The application must be filled out all methods of payment. Your service will be activated once both the application and your payment are received.
New customers: You qualify as a new customer if you do not currently have a yard waste barrel at your property. If you are paying before the season begins, your barrel will be delivered in early March. If you are paying in March or any time during the season, your barrel will be delivered within two business days of the receipt of your payment. The current-year sticker will be applied to your barrel at the time of delivery.
Renewals: You qualify as a renewing customer if there is already a yard waste barrel at your property (even if from a previous owner). As a cost saving initiative, we no longer mail renewal notices. If you choose not renew your service, please contact our office so we can retrieve your yard waste barrel. Barrels that do not have a current-year sticker will not be emptied.
Pay online: Convenience fees for ONLINE PAYMENTS ONLY have been temporarily waived due to COVID-19. Please fill out the digital application. You will then be automatically re-directed to People's United Bank to make your payment. We will mail your sticker once we have received your online application and payment.
Pay by mail: All checks payable to The City of Bristol. A digital application must be digitally submitted (please do not print and mail the form) before the check is mailed in. Please address the envelope "Public Works Department 111 North Main Street Bristol, CT 06010." We will mail your sticker once we have received the application and payment.
Pay in office: In an effort to keep residents and staff safe, we are encouraging residents to take advantage of our contactless payment methods as much as possible. If you are unable to pay online or by mail, you may visit the Public Works Department on the Ground Floor of City Hall (111 North Main Street). IN-OFFICE CREDIT/DEBIT CARD PAYMENTS are subject to a convenience fee, typically 2.95% of the transaction fee. A digital application must be submitted online before you come in. We also accept cash and checks.
If you have a Yard Waste barrel you are no longer using, please contact our office by phone (860-584-6125) or email (PWSwitchboard@bristolct.gov) to have it retrieved.
