Description:

The City of Bristol is accepting bids to install mechanical improvements at Chippens Hill Middle School. Bid documents at no charge by downloading from the Exavault file sharing system as managed by the City Purchasing Department.

A non-mandatory bidder’s conference was held on July 13, 2023 at 10:00 am at Chippens Hill Middle School, 551 Peacedale Street, Bristol CT. 

Bids will be accepted until August 28, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the City of Bristol Purchasing Department, 131 North Main Street, 2nd Floor, Bristol CT 06010, at which time bids will be opened and read. Bids received after the opening date and time will not be considered for award. The City reserves the right to waive any informalities in the bid, to reject any or all bids, and to accept the bid that in its judgment is in its best interest.

Each bid shall be accompanied by a Bid Security in the amount of 5 % of the bidders base bid amount, in the form of a Bid Bond made payable to the City of Bristol. 

In accordance with CGS Sections 4a-100 and 4b-91, firms submitting bids must be pre-qualified with the State of Connecticut Department of Administrative Services (“DAS”) to perform General Construction Class B and/or HVAC, and shall include with their bid a copy of a current certificate and Update (Bid) Statement as issued by DAS.

This project is subject to requirements set forth in the American Rescue Plan Act (“ARPA”). The awarded contractor will be responsible to follow and provide all requirements set by the United States Treasury’s State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (“SLFRF”).  

The awarded contractor will be required to secure a Performance Bond and a Labor and Materials Bond, each in the amount of 100% of the contract award, provided by a surety licensed to do business in the State of Connecticut. The requirements for prevailing wage rates as outlined within C.G.S. 31-53 are to apply to the resultant contract award. 

The successful Bidder shall not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, gender, or national origin. The Contractor will take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated during employment without regard to their race, color, religion, gender, or national origin.
