Curbside Recycling
Program Overview
The City of Bristol collects recycling for Bristol residential properties that qualify for curbside rubbish collection. Recycling is collected curbside every other week on the day after your rubbish collection (Friday rubbish collection has Monday recycle collection). Please place your recycle container at the curb by 6:00 am on your recycling collection day. More recycling information is available by calling the Public Works Department at (860) 584-6125 or at the Tunxis Recycling Operating Committee (TROC) website.

Sign up for reminders and get lots of great recycling information with the RecycleCoach app:

To find out what your scheduled recycle collection day is, please look up your address online or contact Public Works at (860) 584-6125.

Recycle Reminder Calendars
Check the schedule, find your street and note the route shown in the Recycle Route (yellow) column. Each day of the week has two routes, A Route, and B Route for alternating weeks.

The entire city is now on single stream recycling with blue recycle barrels. This means that you can put all recyclable materials together in the same barrel. There is no need to separate papers from cans and bottles or other materials. View the recyclable items information guide for more information.

Need another recycle barrel?
Contact Public Works and request an additional recycle barrel. We will audit to make sure all recycling is appropriate, and deliver an extra barrel at no charge if needed.

Got Phone Books?
You can choose to opt out of delivery of phone books.

Recycling will be collected on your scheduled recycling day unless a public holiday falls on or before your collection day. In this situation, your recycling and rubbish collection day will be one day after your normal recycle day. The city observes the following holidays:
  • New Year's Day
  • Martin Luther King Day
  • Presidents' Day
  • Good Friday
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Columbus Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
