Mission Statement

Mobilize as a community to development and oversee new programs and embellish existing programs in order to provide all preschool children and their families, regardless of income and special needs, the necessary requirements and resources that will allow for the successful growth, education and emotional development.

Goals:
Work with collaborative partners to move the agenda on healthy lifestyles for children and families in
Bristol.
To focus on childhood obesity by education of Parents/Providers and children

Activities:
Food Service – BOE options

Community Gardens- @ Schools ( Ivy Drive pilot program)
Kern Park Project- Trying to get interest in revitalizing park for walkthrough and activities (Ivy Drive Area)
Intergenerational Events- “Stone Soup” reschedule date for Spring 2013
Oral Health- collaborative partners- Tunxis Community college- Lincoln Technical College
School Readiness Healthy Kids Week- April- focus community wide for preschool children

Goals:
Primary:
To ensure the School Readiness Providers are meeting the quality components as set forth in Legislation
To ensure the SR funding for each Program is being spent appropriately
To ensure Consultants are working with SR Programs and their teachers that quality is evident in teacher-student relationships.

Consultants reports – review on individual Programs and classrooms
Monthly Review of Financial expenditures

Secondary:
To help inform the community

To ensure all Programs (Center based and Family Day Care) are aware of curriculum and standards
To ensure all Administrators in community are aware of current information regarding Early Childhood- research/community updates etc.

Goals

To develop a map-themed education campaign to increase parent awareness and involvement regarding infant and toddler options and costs.
Support creation of developmentally appropriate non-competitive activities for very young children

Support efforts that increase the supply and improve the affordability of infant and toddler care slots

Activities:
Develop a list  and understand where Infant and Toddlers are being cared for in community
Provider training for licensed and non-licensed Family based care
Explore how subsidized Infant and Toddler Care can be brought into Bristol community.
