Responsibilities & Services
The primary responsibility of the Treasurer’s Office is to serve as the custodian of all city monies and keep an accurate record of all receipts and disbursements. Short-term funds are invested to maximize interest income for the city.
Pension Funds
The treasurer is a member of the Board of Trustees of each of the city’s three pension funds. Additionally, the Treasurer’s Office is responsible for the biweekly and monthly distribution of pension benefits. During the 2025 to 2026 fiscal year, a total of 1,006 retirees were paid. The breakdown by fund is as follows:
- Firefighters benefit fund (106 retirees)
- Police benefit fund (154 retirees)
- General retirement system fund (746 retirees)
