The Public Works Department welcomes you to Bristol!

Whether you are new to the State of Connecticut, or new to the City of Bristol, we would like to help make your transition as easy as possible by providing some information about our department that we hope you will find helpful.

Our department strives to effectively communicate with Bristol residents. You can sign up for email notifications here. Location & Hours

The Public Works Department is located at 111 North Main Street, Bristol, CT 06010. Our office is in City Hall, on the ground floor. We are open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During the summer (Memorial Day through Labor Day), we are open Monday-Thursday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Most of our services can be requested online. Additionally, most issues you may have can be reported online. For a complete list of our online submission forms, please click here. We will address your online submission within one business day. 

Divisions of Public Works

Engineering Division
Plans, designs, and supervises improvement projects for roads, storm drainage, sanitary sewers, sidewalks, and bridges.
Land Use
Monitors and guides City growth, development, and resource conservation. 
Streets Division
Repairs and maintains storm drains, pavement, bridges, and roadside landscapes; manages street sweeping, snow and ice control. 
Solid Waste Division
Curbside collection of residential rubbish, recycling, yard waste, bulk waste, leaf bag collection, holiday trees. Operates and manages the Transfer Station.
