The primary responsibility of the Treasurer's Office is to serve as the custodian of all city monies and keep an accurate record of all receipts and disbursements. Short-term funds are invested to maximize interest income for the city.
The treasurer is a member of the Board of Trustees of each of the city's three pension funds. Additionally, the Treasurer's Office is responsible for the biweekly and monthly distribution of pension benefits. During the 2018 to 2019 fiscal year, a total of 827 retirees were paid.
