The Mayor’s Office has announced that the renovations to City Hall are nearing completion.
The October 10th City Council Meeting will be held in the newly-renovated Council Chambers at City Hall. Please be sure to check meeting agendas for all other meeting locations for the months of October and November. A Building Dedication Ceremony and Open House for the community has been scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 2 pm – The public is invited to attend and to tour the newly-renovated building after the dedication.
It is anticipated that all City Departments will begin to move back to City Hall beginning the week of October 23rd. See list below for tentative specific department moves and closures for each department – be sure to check the City’s website: https://www.bristolct.gov and signage which will be posted at both temporary City Hall locations. With the exception of the City/Town Clerk’s Office and Registrars, all department moves are expected to be completed by the beginning of November. The public can continue to visit both the City/Town Clerk and Registrars Offices at temporary City Hall East (150 Main Street) for services until the end of November – both offices are anticipated to be ready to serve the public at the newly renovated City Hall on or about December 7th.
Anticipated Timeline for City Department Moves Back to City Hall:
- Department of Public Works Administrative Offices and Human Resources – will be moving on Monday, October 23rd with no services to the public and will resume services in the newly renovated City Hall on Tuesday, October 24th.
- Mayor’s Office, Corporation Counsel, and Purchasing – will be moving on Tuesday, October 24th with no services to the public and will resume services in the newly renovated City Hall on Wednesday, October 25th.
- Comptroller, Treasurer, and Payroll – will be moving on Wednesday and Thursday, October 26th and 27th with no services to the public on both days and will resume services in the newly renovated City Hall on Friday, October 28th
- Building Department and Economic & Community Development – will be moving on Friday, October 28th with no services to the public and will resume services in the newly renovated City Hall on Monday, October 30th
- Tax Department – will be moving on Monday, October 30th with no services to the public and will resume services in the newly renovated City Hall on Tuesday, October 31st (mention new hours here?)
- Assessor’s Office and Veteran’s Strong Community Center – will be moving on Tuesday, October 31st with no services to the public and will resume services in the newly renovated City Hall on Wednesday, November 1st
In order to minimize any service disruptions to the general public during the above moving dates, the City is asking the public to utilize as many online services as possible during this time in order to allow City departments to get settled into the newly renovated City Hall.
The Parks, Recreation, Youth and Community Services will continue to be permanently located at 51 High Street.

The building’s modernization and facility upgrades will match the evolving landscape downtown and hopefully service citizens more efficiently for generations to come. This was a large task over two administrations and I applaud all involved especially our Public Works team and other City Employees for their dedication to complete the project on time and under budget,” stated Mayor Jeffrey Caggiano.
”While the essential driver of need for this project was the necessary replacement of the nearly 60-year-old mechanical systems, as well the transformation to a fully accessible ADA compliant building, the newly renovated building is built to serve the citizens of Bristol for many generations to come,” stated Raymond Rogozinski, Director of Public Works.
