Chief Brian Gould began his career with the Bristol Police Department in March 1994. He was formally sworn in as the 13th police Chief in April 2016. During his illustrious career he guided the department through the arduous CALEA national accreditation process, worked tirelessly to foster and promote community relationships, and was universally respected by his criminal justice peers, co-workers, and community members.
Chief Gould's professionalism and leadership were on national display when he guided our department through the horrific events of October 12, 2022, when Sergeant Demonte and Officer Hamzy were murdered in the Line of Duty.
Chief Gould continues to serve in the private sector.
